About Myself (CV)

Server Acim (1961),after graduating from secondary school, registered at the Conservatory in 1978 to study Double-Bass, switching after two years to the Department of Composition. He studied under the internationally-renowned contemporary music composer İlhan USMANBAŞ for 10 years. In 1990, he began his postgraduate studies, as a student of another noted contemporary music master, Cengiz TANÇ. He graduated in April 1993 and received his Doctorate in May 1998. He has composed several pieces for different theatre groups and won the BEST THEATRE MUSIC OF THE YEAR prize in 1993 with his musics for Shakespeare’s MACBETH. He was the third runner-up in 1996 in the 1st Composition Competition in memory of Nejat Eczacibasi with his “Symphony for Orchestra, Op.6″. This work had been performed in November 1996 by Cumhurbaşkanlığı Symphony Orchestra in Ankara. He graduated from the Doctora Class in Composition at the Mimar Sinan University in April 1988. He had worked Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University - State Conservatory between 1991- 98 as  assistant, then Yildiz Technical University - Art & Design Faculty - Music & Stage Arts Department between 1998 - 2002 as music teacher. At present, he is an assistant professor of music (Composition and Conducting) at İnönü University in Malatya.

He is married, with one children. He is a dedicated Linux user and considers it his main hobby; he has considerable experience with Fedora Linux, Mandrake Linux, and Ubuntu-Kubuntu Linux; but his present favourite is PARDUS.
